Cunard Celebrates Nautical History With Two New Cruises
March 18, 2021
In 2023 Cunard will celebrate its 100th anniversary. Queen Mary celebrates the 50th anniversary of her groundbreaking circumnavigation and the first-ever circumnavigation of a passenger ship with two celebratory cruises aboard Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria.
These unique voyages reflect the many ports of call that Cunard visited during its maiden voyage around the world with RMS Laconia, followed by RMS Samaria, as well as stops in some of today’s most inspiring destinations.
Following the Queen Mary 2’s circumnavigation around New York, the 117-night world voyage will also call at Colombo, Singapore and Hong Kong as part of the centenary celebrations, replicating the RMS Samaria’s world voyage in 1923. The trip also includes overnight stops in Dubai, Sydney and Cape Town, and departures from Southampton via Asia, Australia and South Africa. Prices start at $21,499 per person.
The 92-night world voyage of Queen Victoria (New York to Southampton, England) will be a repeat of the 1922/23 calls of the RMS Laconia, with stops in Hong Kong, New York, Singapore, Cabo San Lucas, Colombo, San Francisco, Hilo, Honolulu, Manila, and Naples, and will also call at Aruba, Jordan, Tonga, and the full passage of the Panama Canal. Airfare starts at $18,499 per person.
Guests enjoy an exclusive programme of events and celebrations, both ashore and on board, with entertainment and food reflecting every region of the world visited.
Cunard pioneered world travel and a century later we are more passionate than ever about these extraordinary journeys, said Simon Palethorpe, Chairman of Cunard. Our 2023 World Centenary voyages offer guests a unique opportunity to celebrate 100 years of visiting the four corners of the globe in the utmost luxury of Cunard.
In addition to the full 100-year world voyages, it is also possible to book voyages on the Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria in selected segments from two to 40 nights.
For those who want to experience the best of Australia and New Zealand, we are delighted to be able to offer another extended sailing season on the Queen Elizabeth, including a 28-night round trip, Mr Palethorpe said.
While her sister ships explore the world, the Queen Elizabeth will sail for a season in her home port of Australasia. This includes 28 nightly cruises around Australia for the first time. Prices for a 28-night roundtrip to Sydney start at $6,199 per person.
The Cunard Centenary World Voyages are part of the new Cunard Sailing Programme, which can now be booked. Former guests registered before the 24th. Bookings made before May 2021 are eligible for a discount of up to $1,200 per person on pre-departure fares.
