When Will Each Cruise Line Resume Sailings Again? (2021)

It’s 2021 and spring is fast approaching, but nearly every cruise in the world is still waiting. Check out this page to see when the cruise lines are back in business.

So far, the situation is such that almost all cruises in the world have been suspended and will only resume depending on the authorities of each country, new health measures and travel restrictions. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has already announced a 40-page framework for conditional navigation for cruises in the United States.

Cruise Lines in the United States has already announced several rounds of suspensions since the voluntary suspension began in March 2020. We already know that the major cruise lines in the US are waiting for further guidance and technical details to safely resume operations. The situation remains highly volatile and the timing of return is constantly being updated.

In Canada, the transportation authority has already surprisingly extended the cruise ship ban by a full year – to 28. February 2022. Cruises in the UK will be suspended until spring 2021, as will operations in Australia and New Zealand. In Europe, activities in Italy and Germany have been temporarily suspended due to the impact of the pandemic, although some travel is expected to resume.

Some cruise lines have recently started requiring that guests and crew members be vaccinated before each trip. The introduction of the vaccine could impact return times and bring more cruise lines into this mandate trend.

When will the cruises resume?

Below is an ever-changing list of dates when cruise lines will resume operations, likely in stages, with limited capacity and new health measures: Last update of the list : 23. February 2021

Aida Cruises

The German cruise line, which is part of the Carnival Corporation, will operate for up to 30 years. June 2020, with first departures scheduled for 1. The month of July is planned.

Update 1 : The cruise line has announced an extension until the end of July, with sailings starting July 1. August.

Update 2 : Aida Cruises has announced that cruises with ports in the United States or Canada will be cancelled by 2021. Readers of Cruise Hive can read our full article here.

Update 3 : As we report at this stage, Aida Cruises will be launching on the 6th after the delay. September to begin cruises, but only with a limited number of ships, most of which are on standby for a month.

Update 4 : The return has not been so easy and Aida Cruises has delayed the reopening until November 2020 due to ongoing restrictions, read all the details.

Update 5 : Aida was able to get approval for cruises from Italy as early as October, but the yachts will only call at Italian ports.

Update 6 : After the German government declared a lockdown due to the increased occurrence of COVID-19, Aida Cruises temporarily cancelled sailings until December. Cruises in the United States and everywhere else end in 2021.

Update 7 : As mentioned in this space, the cruise line, which is part of Carnival, will launch a new service starting at 5. December 2020 offers cruises to the Canary Islands departing from AIDAperla.

Azamara

The small luxury cruise line is offering all cruises departing on or before the 11th. June 2020 will be cancelled, with cruises taking place on the 12th. June 2020. The cruise line’s opening was originally scheduled for the 12th. May to leave again, but due to the world situation, the date has been postponed.

Update 1 : The company has suspended cruises for the entire month of July and the first trips are scheduled for August, as are many other cruise lines. This enhancement was developed in consultation with the International Cruise Line Association (CLIA) and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Update 2 : As part of the extended CDC order, Azamara has extended the cruise break until the end of September.

Update 3 : Following the announcement by the Cruise Lines International Association (CDC), the cruise line has extended its suspension until October 2020.

Update 5 : All cruises have now been cancelled for the remainder of 2020 and affected guests will be compensated. The cruise line will return in 2021 with new medical equipment.

Update 6 : It has been announced that the targeted cruises will not resume until spring 2021, here are the details.

Update 7 : A small cruise line owned by Royal Caribbean has ceased operations for up to 30 years. April 2021. The announcement was made on the 12th. of January by the parent company.

When does the Carnival Cruise Line set sail again?

Original Update : The thirteenth. In April, Carnival Cruise Line announced a further extension of its voluntary suspension of cruise operations. As of now, the company plans to begin cruises in North America on the 27th. June 2020.

Update 1 : Cruise Line has released a new update, which we’ve detailed here. Eight cruise ships will return to sea in August, and the majority of the fleet will sail until September 2020.

Update 2 : Following the voluntary suspension by CLIA, Carnival followed suit a few days later and extended the suspension of cruises departing from the United States. More information can be found here.

Update 4 : The cruise line has again suspended operations, affecting two cruise ships operating out of Australia. Read the article here.

Update 5 : Many of the recently announced changes to the Carnival fleet are a result of the drydocking and decommissioning of the Fantasia class ships.

Update 6 : Cruise Line has announced that all cruises departing from the United States will be cancelled by the end of the year, with the exception of cruises departing from Miami and Port Canaveral, Florida, details of which can be found here.

Update 7 : Not surprisingly, Carnival Cruise Line has cancelled all cruises departing from Miami and Port Canaveral for the month of November. This means that cruises to the United States cannot resume until December at the earliest. Here’s a report.

Update 8 : Since the CDC announced a new Conditional Sail Order and 40-page detail, Carnival Cruise Line has suspended operations until January 1. January 2021.

Update 9 : Carnival’s latest update indicates that all departures from the United States have been cancelled until February 2021, but only until that month. Other cruises will resume in March, with the Carnival Legend even later.

Update 10 : More bad news was reported on the 3rd. December 2020 was announced when Carnival canceled all cruises through February 2021 and scheduled Mardi Gras for the third time in April 2021.

Update 11 : Carnival Cruise Line has made more changes and reported more delays than any other cruise line, and of the 6. Further cancellations were announced in January, with cruises not resuming until April 2021.

Update 12 : Once again, the Carnival has decided to announce another cancellation by May 2021. This was done on the 22nd. January 2021 announced here. Activities in Australia also continued into the 19th century. May 2021. When do the celebrities go to sea again?

Celebrity Cruises has suspended all cruise operations until 11:00 am. June 2020, following the decision of parent company Royal Caribbean Ltd. Cruises resume on the 12th. June 2020.

Update1 : The cruise line followed its parent company Royal Caribbean in extending its cruise stay. Navigation operation will begin at 1. August 2020.

Update 2 : Celebrity Cruises has cancelled its trips to Canada, Alaska and New England due to a new cruise ban by the Canadian government.

Update 3 : Further cancellations of routes with Denmark were announced in the latest Celebrity update. The country has announced an extension of the ban on cruise ships, we published it here.

Update 4 : Celebrity followed up on CLIA’s announcement that it would be in operation until the 15th. September 2020 to cancel other cruises.

Update 5 : The cruise line, which is part of Royal Caribbean, has extended the suspension of its operations until September 2020.

Update 6 : Following the lead of most major American cruise lines, Celebrity has also suspended its operations until January 1. November 2020. The same applies to all cruise lines that are part of Royal Caribbean, and this does not apply to cruises to China and Australia.

Update 7 : According to parent company Royal Caribbean Group, it has now been announced that the cruises will be suspended until November 2020. Here are the details.

Update 8 : Parent company Royal Caribbean Group has announced it will suspend cruises until 2021, with the exception of trial cruises on Quantum of the Seas departing from Singapore.

Update 9 : Celebrity Cruises has extended its temporary stay in the United States, and now the cruise ships won’t be back in service until March. It follows other sister cruise lines that are part of Royal Caribbean. The cruise line had planned a limited launch in January 2021, but the relaunch will take longer.

Update 10 : Following in the footsteps of its parent company Royal Caribbean, the cruise line has also suspended operations until September 30. April 2021. This includes a transatlantic trip on the 1st. May on the famous summit. Celestial Cruises

The cruise line, which operates two ships primarily out of Greece, announced it would offer cruises up to 30. July 2020. Cruises may resume gradually, depending on travel restrictions and the Greek authorities.

Update 1 : Celestyal requested a further extension of the suspension on 30. July 2020 with new sailings from 31. July announced.

Update 2 : The cruise line will not be renewed until the 2021 season, which begins in March 2021.

Update 3 : Celestyal Cruises now plans to launch cruises on the 24th. April 2021 resume with 7 nights sailing in the Aegean.

CostaCruises

The Italy-based cruise line is currently benefiting from an extended cruise suspension of up to 31 years. May 2020. After this date, trips begin again, most in the first week of June.

Update 1 : On the same day as sister company Aida Cruises, Costa Cruises also extended its suspension of operations for the entire month of July, with the first sailings taking place on July 1. The month of August will take place.

Update 2 : In early July, the cruise line announced that it would allow cruise cancellations until 3 p.m. August was extended due to continued travel restrictions and new health measures.

Update 3 : After Italy approved the resumption of cruises, Costa announced that the first flight is scheduled for the 6th. September from Trieste, Italy. Due to complicated restrictions on worldwide travel, only Italian guests will be able to participate in the cruises for now. For more information, click here.

Update 4 : 22. January 2021. Costa Cruises has announced for the 13th. March: the relaunch of the Costa Smeralda. The ship will offer mini-cruises of 3 and 4 days or a 7-day cruise with stopovers in Savona, La Spezia, Civitavecchia, Naples, Messina and Cagliari.

Update 5 : Costa Cruises has had to suspend the resumption of its European operations due to the ongoing pandemic. Good news was announced on the 17th. February with the reopening of the cruise line with departures from Costa Smeralda on February 27. Announced in March 2021. Other ships will follow in the coming weeks.

Cruise and Shipping (CMV)

The British Cruise Line has expanded its cruises to 25. August 2020 extended. This is due to the fact that in many countries there are other closures in addition to port closures. For more information, click here.

Update 1 : The cruise line has been placed under surveillance and is unlikely to be operated. As of this writing, all cruises are cancelled for good. For more information, click here.

Cruise crystals

The luxury cruise line has suspended cruises until June 2020, with departures resuming in July, as many other cruise lines have done. This includes river cruises.

Update 1 : The resumption of luxury cruises, including on river routes, is still delayed and Canada has banned cruise ships. It depends on the ship when the voyages resume.

Update 2 : Crystal Cruises has stopped canceling cruises for 2020 and is instead focusing on resuming cruises with new welfare measures in 2021.

Update 3 : In December, Crystal Cruises announced further cancellations of river and ocean cruises.

Update 4 : The 27th. In January, the cruise line announced a new series of cruise cancellations affecting all markets in which it operates, including ocean cruises.

Update 5 : We have received an important update from Crystal Cruises, which has already announced that all guests must be vaccinated before joining a cruise. In addition, the luxury cruise line has extended its suspension until May for ocean cruises and even longer for other ship types.

Cunard line

The famous cruise line has cancelled its flights until the 15th. May 2020 extended. Navigation is scheduled to begin on the 16th. May resume, but this could change depending on the situation in the UK and the world.

Update 1 : The cruise line announced new expansions, with cruises up to 31. July has to be cancelled. However, there will be no more Alaskan season for the Queen Elizabeth, and cruises for the ship are closed until the 8th. September canceled.

When does the Disney Cruise Line set sail again?

At Disney, the return sailings have different dates depending on the cruise ship and the departure point. The Disney Dream and the Disney Fantasy will not be available before the age of 18. Let the year 2020 begin again. Disney Magic cruises have been expanded to seven. June is suspended. Due to the suspension of Canadian cruises until 1. In July 2020, Disney Wander attractions will be suspended for the entire month of June.

Update 1 : The cruise line is now offering more upgrades, and cruises are now available until the 18th. July 2020 deleted. This includes the Disney Magic, which will be available until 2 p.m. July, and the Vancouver, which sails until late June.

Update 5 : The Disney cruise line has suspended operations until at least 6 a.m. December 2020. It could be even more, depending on the fact that the CDC has no regulations on navigation. Here’s the latest update.

Update 6 : According to other major US cruise lines, Disney has suspended sailing until 2021 to further improve new medical protocols.

Update 7 : The 23rd. In November 2020, Disney Cruise Line announced a further suspension of all cruise operations until November 31. January 2021 year.

Update 8 : After all the major cruise lines, Disney Cruises has also announced an even longer period, until the 28th. February 2021, cancelled. This means that navigation aboard the Disney Magic will continue until the 25th. February, Disney Wonder and Disney Dreams until the 26th. February and Disney Fantasy until the 27th. The month of February is over.

Fred Olsen Cruise Lines

British Cruise Line announced an increase in the number of cancelled cruises, as did many other cruise lines. However, the cruise line has not announced a return date and is keeping it open.

Update 1 : Fred Olsen has announced some dates for the return of his ships by the end of the year and in 2021.

Update 2 : A lot is happening at British Cruise Line with two new ships purchased from Holland America Line and new return dates.

Update 3 : The cruise line has decided to cancel the cruises as of 2021 due to the ongoing uncertainty in the world.

Update 4 : Fred Olsen Cruises has announced more precise return dates for the three cruise ships, starting in late spring 2021.

When will the Holland America line be operational again?

The cruise line, owned by Carnival, has announced that cruise operations will be suspended for up to 30 years. June 2020 will be interrupted. This includes delayed seasons in Alaska, Europe, Canada and New England. The Canadian government has announced that cruises up to 1. It will also affect some of Holland America’s ships.

Update 1 : The cruise line has cancelled all Alaska, European and Canada/New England cruises for 2020, as reported here.

Update 3 : Holland America has announced that all cruises will be cancelled on December 15, 2020. The choice of sailboats will be even greater.

Update 4 : Like other CLIA members and parent company Carnival Corporation, Holland America Line has suspended all cruises until the 31st. December 2020 cancelled.

Update 5 : Following its sister Princess Cruises, Holland America Line also announced the 20th. November 2020 announced that all cruises have been cancelled until spring 2021.

Update 6 : The sixth. In January, Holland America announced further cruise cancellations, meaning all cruises will now be cancelled by Jan. 30. April 2021. The trip also includes departures from Alaska through mid-May, from the Mediterranean through early June, and a choice between Canada and New England.

Marella Cruises

The British cruise line operated by TUI has extended its operational break until September 30. June 2020. The first departures will take place on the 31st. Early June. This includes the launch of the new river cruise service, scheduled for the 26th. November 2020 has been postponed.

Update 1 : Marella joined this trend and also extended the break. As of now, all cruises are available up to 30. July cancelled, first departure starts on the 31st. July.

Update 3 : The UK Cruise Line has suspended cruises for an even longer period, until November 2020.

Update 4 : Marella Cruises has suspended its programme in the UK until the 16th due to an increase in virus cases. December 2020. You can read our article on the subject here.

Update 5 : After the UK government declared a full shutdown due to a massive increase in infections, Marella Cruises has now extended the operational break to two hours. February 2021.

Update 6 : Cruises were further delayed. European operations do not begin until the 31st. March 2021 resumes, with departure not until May 2021.

Update 7 : The British cruise line has extended an operational pause until May 2021 due to uncertainty over travel restrictions. The cruise line has already cancelled sailings from Barbados and Jamaica until the 30th. April 2021 suspended.

When will MSC Cruises resume navigation?

Cruises from the private cruise line, based primarily in Europe, are currently available until the 29th. May 2020 suspended. It’s much longer than the first break until the 30th. April 2020.

Update 1 : The private cruise line has now announced its cruise dates until the 10th. July 2020 extended. The first sailings take place again on the 11th. Early July.

Update 2: MSC currently anticipates a gradual return from Aug. 1, and the fleet will not be fully operational again until the summer of 2021, depending on the region. You can read more about it here.

Update 3: MSC announced that cruises from the United States will be discontinued as a result of CLIA’s voluntary extension from age 16. The month of September will resume. More information can be found here.

Update 4 : Two ships will start their cruises in August, but due to restrictions, U.S. cruises are now suspended until November 2020.

Update 5 : As Cruise Hive reports here, MSC Cruises has now suspended operations from the United States until next year due to new CDC requirements and the time it takes to implement new sanitary measures.

Update 6 : This was a double setback for MSC Cruises, as a further suspension of operations in the US until March 2021 affected three cruise ships and the company was forced to cancel the Mediterranean due to new restrictions in Italy.

When does the Norwegian Cruise Line set sail again?

The cruise line’s previous expansion was only increased to 14. New landings will begin on May 15, 2020. May 2020.

Update 1 : Now, according to an announcement from NCL LTD, the cruises will continue until the 30th. June 2020, with first embarkation at 1. July is about to begin.

Update 2 : The NCL also announced that cruises will be suspended for the entire month of July and that the first cruise ships will set sail on July 1. August 2020 will be here again.

Update 3 : According to the latest figures from the NCL, the fleet will be expanded by 30 units. August 2020 will be revised downwards. This will change with CLIA’s new announcement regarding cruises departing the United States by September 15. This is expected to change again.

Update 4 : The last update to the cruise line’s recommendations dates back to 30. June, cancelling all cruises in September and returning with selective flights from October.

Update 5 : NCL and its subsidiaries followed CLIA’s announcement and suspended all US operations until January 1. November 2020. However, this does not mean that cruises will suddenly start from that date, as it is a gradual return.

Update 7 : Following CLIA and other major cruise lines, Norwegian Cruise Line has now extended its suspension of operations until 2021. This is to give the ships time to prepare for the new medical procedures and meet DCC requirements for resumption of service.

Update 8 : Norwegian Cruise Line is the first of the major cruise lines to announce a new set of suspensions. The cruise line has suspended operations until the 28th. February 2021. However, only three NCL ships have until April 2021 to resume operations. All details can be found here.

Update 9 : NCL announced on the 29th. December announced that Norwegian Encore, Norwegian Escape and Norwegian Joy will join the rest of the fleet and remain in reserve until March 2021.

Update 10 : The 19th. In January 2021, Norwegian Cruise Line announced a further suspension of operations. The fleet will now remain on standby until May 2021, while the cruise line continues to work towards a safe return to sailing.

Update 11 : The 16th. In February, the cruise line announced that operations would continue with a pause until the 31st. May 2021. NCL Holdings is working with the appropriate authorities to ensure a safe return to ensure the safety of guests and crew when cruises resume.

Cruises in Oceania

According to parent company NCL Ltd, the luxury cruise line will start offering a new service from January 1. July again, as currently all departures through June 30. 2020 are being cancelled.

Update 1 : The operator has extended the cruises until the end of July, with the first sailings on July 1. August 2020.

Update 2 : Like other cruise lines and as a result of its parent company NCL, the line has taken a break from its cruise operations.

Update 3 : Norwegian Cruise Line has suspended the operation of all its ships until 2021.

Update 4 : The parent company of Norwegian Cruise Line on the 19th. January 2021 announced that it has added Oceanic ships to its operating fleet.

Update 5 : Like its other sister companies, Oceania Cruises has extended its suspension until the summer of 2021. The cruise line remains committed to ensuring a safe return.

P&O Cruises

The initial suspension of British Cruise Line’s operations for 30 days was not possible due to the current global crisis. As of now, all cruises are available until 3pm. May 2020 suspended. From the age of 16. Sampling begins again in May.

Update 1 : The cruise line has granted a postponement until Jan. 1. August, which will affect the entire fleet.

Update 2 : Further extensions have been announced due to ongoing travel restrictions. Currently, the focus is on implementing new sanitary measures when cruises resume.

Update 3 : On the advice of the UK Foreign Office and given the ongoing complications of travelling around the world, P&O Cruises has decided to suspend cruises until midday. November 2020. You can read our updated article here.

Update 4 : The UK cruise industry is in crisis and many cruise lines will not resume operations until 2021, including the largest among them, P&O Cruises, whose latest news is as follows.

Update 5 : The 24th. In November 2020, P&O Cruises announced a new suspension in spring 2021. So the cruise ships will not set sail until April 2021 at the earliest.

P&O Australia

Since the Australian government allows cruises up to 15. Banned in June 2020, the farm is affected by this plan. The cruise line now plans to operate the cruise from June 16 until resumption, but this could change.

Update 2 : P&O Australia is forced to cancel more cruises as a new ban on cruises from Australia is in place until mid-September 2020. The first departures will take place on the 18th. Early September.

Update 3 : There is another update with Australia, and cruises to New Zealand have been extended to 29. October canceled.

Update 5 : Complete changes at the Carnival cruise line due to the delayed arrival of the Pacific Adventure and the decommissioning of the Pacific Aria and Pacific Dawn fleet.

Update 6 : The Australian cruise line announced on 5. January a new cancellation of cruises departing from New Zealand. The national suspension has been extended until the 25th. April 2021.

Update 7 : The 18th. In February, P&O Australia decided to extend the deadline for operations to 18. June 2021. Still, the cruise line remains optimistic about its return and the arrival of two newcomers to the fleet, named Pacific Encounter and Pacific Adventure.

When will the Princess resume her cruises?

Due to a decision by its parent company Carnival Corp, Princess Cruises has suspended its cruise operations until the 30th. June 2020. Cruises will resume on the 1st. July 2020. Cruise Line was among the first to announce the voluntary cessation of its operations as of the 12th. March 2020 announced.

Update: The cruise line has now cancelled a number of cruises until late summer and fall 2020.

Update 2 : Many changes from Princess Cruises and the different regions are slowly coming back. However, with bans still in place in Canada and Australia, cruises will not be fully possible until 2021.

Update 3 : Princess Cruises has announced that the individual yachts will be cancelled in December 2020, as reported in detail here.

Update 4 : Five Princess cruise ships have been affected by further cancellations, detailed here.

Update 5 : Parent company Carnival Corp. announced it is suspending its North American operations until Dec. 31. December 2020.

Update 6 : Princess Cruises announced on the 20th to. November 2020 that all cruises have been suspended until March 31, 2021 and there will be no cruises until November 2021.

Update 7 : The sixth. In January, the cruise line announced that it would extend the break for guests until the 14th. May 2021. These include Caribbean cruises, coastal cruises in California, and preseason cruises to Alaska and Europe.

Seven Lakes Cruise Registrar

Parent company Norwegian Cruise Line has announced a further expansion with a break of up to 30 years. June 2020 announced. Cruises on the deluxe line begin on the 1st. July.

Update: The luxury cruise line has announced that after another lengthy hiatus, cruises will now begin on 1. August.

Update 2 : According to most other cruise lines, the suspension of operations will now last until October.

Update 3 : After parent company Norwegian Cruise Line announced a further suspension until December 2020, Regent Seven Seas did the same.

Update 4 : Parent company Norwegian Cruise Line has announced a new suspension of operations that will also affect ships operated by Regent Seven Seas Cruises.

Update 5 : This is yet another set of suspensions for the luxury cruise line, which NCL Holdings announced on the 26th. February 2021 announced. This covers the operation up to the 31st. May 2021.

When does the Royal Caribbean set sail again?

Royal Caribbean has also been keeping an eye on Carnival, extending the suspension of cruises. The cruise line offered cruises up to 11 hours. June 2020 cancelled, first landings start on the 12th. June 2020.

Update 1 : Royal Caribbean and its cruise brands have suspended operations until December 31. July 2020, with the maiden voyage at 1. The month of August begins. Trips to China will be cancelled at the end of June.

Update 3 : According to CLIA’s announcement last week, Royal Caribbean has extended the interruption of cruises departing the United States until the 15th. September 2020. For more information, click here.

Update 4 : Like other cruise lines, Royal Caribbean has again extended its operations in the United States through October 2020. For more information, click here.

Update 5 : The parent company Royal Caribbean Group has now cancelled all travel to Australia and New Zealand for 2020, meaning cruises will not resume until early 2021, here are the details.

Update 6 : Along with parent company Royal Caribbean Group, it was announced that the suspension will last until November 2020. Read the news here.

Update 7 : Royal Caribbean followed the example of the other major cruise lines and CLIA members and suspended operations until December 31. December 2020. It is now planned to resume implementation of the new health measures in early 2021. The suspension eliminates Singapore’s Quantum of the Seas pilot.

Update 8 : Royal Caribbean followed the lead of other major cruise lines and expanded its interruption for cruise operations outside the United States. Royal Caribbean will resume cruise operations in March 2021, but this will be a gradual return to service. This excludes Singapore’s Quantum of the Seas and China’s Spectrum of the Seas.

Update 9 : Royal Caribbean went beyond April and suspended operations until early May 2021. The announcement was made on January 12, 2021, but excludes two ships from the fleet.

Seabourn

The cruise line, which is owned by Carnival, has cancelled a number of cruises that were due in November. Each ship has a different return date, as we have indicated here, the last ship returns on the 21st. November 2020 to resume service.

Update 1 : The cruise line has announced that three cruise ships will stop sailing in the spring of 2021, as shown here.

Update 2 : The luxury cruise line, owned by Carnival Corporation, cancelled other cruises in 2021, affecting two ships. A selection of voyages on the Seabourn Odyssey are available until 5 a.m. in November 2021, and some voyages on the Seabourn Quest are also cancelled until 6 a.m. November 2021 canceled.

Viking Cruises

The luxury cruise line is the first to announce a temporary halt to cruise operations on the 11th. March 2020 announcement. As of now, the cruise line has extended the break on ocean and river cruises to the 30th. June 2020.

Update: Viking Cruises has extended the interruption of cruise operations to 31. The month of August has been extended, which also applies to river cruises.

Update 2 : A new update has been published for sea and river cruises, which are suspended until September.

Update 3 : Viking has announced it will scrap all river and ocean cruises by 2021, which could be a major setback as cruises in 2020 are not expected to generate much profit.

Update 4 : The 18th. In February 2021, the luxury cruise line announced an extension of the break, which will affect river and ocean operations until May 2021.

Ordinary travel

Virgin Voyages has not yet begun offering regular cruises on its first and currently only cruise ship, Scarlet Lady. The ship’s first sailing season was set for the 15th. July 2020, with a maiden voyage on the 7th. August 2020.

Update 1 : The cruise line has announced that the cruises will launch on October 16, 2020, as they have for the past 15 years. October have been cancelled.

Update 2 : Due to the continued interruption of services and limited access to the port, the new cruise line has also cancelled its November sailings.

Update 3 : The Scarlet Lady’s U.S. debut will have to wait a little longer, as the cruise line has canceled its December 2020 flights. The first cruise is scheduled for 3. January 2020 expected.

Update 4 : Virgin Voyages will have to wait much longer for the first start of operations. The Scarlet Lady is currently sailing in May 2021.

Other possible changes

Cruise Lines continues to develop its sanitary measures and cooperate with the competent authorities. The speed at which the vaccine spreads could also affect the timing of safe return cruises.

We’ve seen some cruise lines offer only a limited number of trips, and Royal Caribbean’s Quantum of the Seas proves that cruises to nowhere can’t work either. Hopefully there is renewed optimism for late spring and early summer, but we will have to wait and see.

It’s also important to note that while there is a specific date when cruises may resume, it will likely be a staggered return with only a few ships. This is what we are seeing in Europe at the moment.
